Our Team
Jack Cullity (LLB)
Jack is the founding director of Mining + Heritage Legal and has over 25 years legal experience across the resources and commercial sectors including senior legal and commercial roles at ASX listed iron ore, gold and engineering services companies. One of those mining companies saw its market capitalisation grow from $9m to $3bn. Jack also worked at a leading international law firm based in London in the corporate department. Over the last 7 years Jack has worked extensively advising clients in minerals / oil & gas exploration, mining and project generation.
He is a director of a number of private exploration companies and has a strong belief in the role that exploration and sustainable mining plays in the development of our communities. Jack was the President of the Starlight Children’s Foundation in WA for 10 years up until 2019.
Matt Hansen (LLB | BA)
Matt has a diverse background that includes in-house roles with companies such as Rio Tinto Exploration, Newmont Asia Pacific, and Sodexo, as well as extensive experience in native title representation and Indigenous governance, Matt brings a unique perspective to our team at MHL. Matt’s expertise spans across range of areas, including negotiating and drafting supply chain/procurement contracts, advising on corporate arrangements like joint ventures and farm-in/farm-out agreements, conducting due diligence for mining tenure acquisitions, and providing counsel on Native Title, cultural heritage and Indigenous governance matters related to energy and mining projects. Matt is also extensively involved in the WA community as a director of MADALAH, a not-for-profit organisation supporting Indigenous students in Western Australia with scholarships for secondary, transition, and tertiary education.
Josh Chadwick (LLB | BEc)
Josh has advised minerals and petroleum exploration companies on tenement/permit applications and transactions, native title access, heritage agreement negotiation, environmental plan preparation and engagement with Government departments. Josh also has broad capital markets and corporate advisory experience having been involved in multiple ASX initial public offers, private placements and rights issue transactions. Josh holds a bachelor’s double degree in law and economics and has completed a graduate certificate in applied finance.
Annabelle Caska (LLB | B.Bus)
Annabelle has a background prior to law in civil and residential construction across procurement, contract administration, dispute resolution and labour hire management. Annabelle brings with her a unique commercial perspective on mining transactions, native title and heritage legal matters. She holds a Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws and NMAS Mediation certification, and has worked as a commercial and mining/resources lawyer advising on Warden’s Court, native title and heritage matters. Outside of work she is the mum to three children and has volunteered with Zero2Hero, Whitford Junior Football Club and Surf Life Saving WA. Annabelle is also a strong advocate for work life balance and mental health in the legal profession.
